The subject who is truly loyal to the Chief Magistrate will neither advise nor submit to arbitrary measures. A combination of Southern road movie and exploitation flick, Drive Angry 3D stars Nicolas Cage as a felon who escapes from Hell in an effort to save his baby granddaughter from a cult sacrifice. Strictly for the midnight-movie crowd, Drive Angry serves up a non-stop stream of female nudity, flying body parts, gun battles and smart-alecky dialogue, which, in one boundary-pushing motel-room scene, actually take place simultaneously.
Ever since we saw the gunfight sex scene from Nic Cage's bat-out-of-hell-screwing-shooting-vengeance flick Drive Angrywe've wanted to know more. And chatting about the Hellraiser -reboot. Nic Cage's character seems to fit into that "You're not supposed to like him, but you'll end up loving him" type.
A man Nicolas Cage escapes Hell with a special cache of weapons and seeking revenge after members of a religious cult kill his daughter and plan to sacrifice his baby granddaughter. A former waitress Amy Heard and an old mechanic David Morse join his quest, while one of Hell's accountants William Fichtner is sent to bring the escapee back. Directed by Patrick Lussier.
Some films don't need a point. The plot is just a way to string action sequences together. Heck, most of the 'Fast and the Furious' films are perfect examples of this. With guy movies, what matters most is seeing what you wanted to see.
Directed by: Patrick Lussier. Nicolas Cage only seems to make B-movies these days and Drive Angry is no exception. However, unlike most of his recent output, this one is fun and entertaining.
In addition to interviews with producer Michael De Luca, co-screenwriter Todd Farmer and actor William Fichtner, Chris also had the opportunity to check out the fiery outdoor set to get a closer look at all the action. That happens. Nobody changed it.

I wanted to like "Drive Angry" too: John Milton escapes from hell to save a baby from satanic sacrifice. You don't see that everyday -- unless you're an avid Nic Cage fan, I guess. It's not so long since he gave up his soul to battle Satan's progeny in "Ghost Rider," and we can look forward to "Ghost Rider 2" this time next year.
Tone of commentary: Egalitarian. But in addition to the cast contributions, Lussier and Farmer go out of their way to identify and praise, for instance, the second-unit director who fished a dead snake out of a ditch and put it in the shot. And the producer who suggested Lussier should cut a laugh at the end of another shot. And the makeup guy who handled a gory effect.
